EFCC Finally released Nairamarley



After all the ups and downs he has faced in the past month in the hands of the men of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) custody, Azeez Fashola, Nigerian musician better known as Naira Marley is now a free man.


After 35 days of his arrest by EFCC and his court hearing/judgement, Naira Marley is finally out from the prison. Rahman Jago shared a video to his Instagram page to confirm the release of Naira Marley. The video shows the signature made by Naira Marley to some documents which have been the main reason why he was still in prison since he was granted a 2 million Naira bail.

The singer has now been released from prison custody after perfecting his bail condition. Recall that the artiste was arrested and charged to court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on an 11 count charge of advance fee fraud popularly called ‘yahoo yahoo’.


His arrest had come on the heels of his vocal support for internet fraudsters popularly known as yahoo boys. According to the singer, Yahoo boys are not criminals and should be prayed for because they make money circulate in the economy. He also released a controversial song, “Am I A Yahoo Boy” following his argument with fellow singer, Simi who criticsed the activities of Yahoo boys.


Many fans of embattled singer had rejoiced when a Lagos court granted the singer bail some weeks ago. In an update to his bail situation, his management gave an update concerning the processing of his bail and according to them, the “Am I A Yahoo Boy” crooner was still in custody because they were waiting on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to verify those who had come forward as his sureties.




Naira Marley, who had been in prison custody pending when he would perfect his bail conditions following his arraignment by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) before Justice Nicolas Oweibo of Federal High Court, Lagos was seen hugging his mother and people surrounded him, all trying to get a glimpse of the smiling singer.
