Ryan Giggs is backing Real Madrid to win a third successive Champions League title against Liverpool FC in Kiev on Saturday evening.

The Reds will take on the Spanish giants in their first Champions League final since 2007 when Liverpool FC lost 2-1 to AC Milan in Athens.

Liverpool FC haven’t won the Champions League since 2005 when the Merseyside outfit came from 3-0 down to beat the Italian side on penalties in Istanbul.

The 18-time English champions have scored 46 goals in 14 games in Europe this season to help Liverpool FC dipsatch FC Porto, Manchester City and AS Roma in the knockout stage.

However, Jurgen Klopp’s side will have to find a way past a Real Madrid side that have won three of the last four Champions League finals to dominate the competition.

Los Blancos beat Atletico Madrid and Juventus in the last two European Cup finals to take their tally to 12 Champions League titles.

Former Manchester United star Giggs believes Real Madrid will make it lucky number 13 against Liverpool FC in Kiev on Saturday evening.

“It is difficult to split them,” Giggs told Sky Sports. “But a lot of Liverpool’s success this year in the Champions League has come from being at home, at Anfield.

“It is a 50-50 game but, with the final being at a neutral venue in Kiev, I think if I had to choose, with Real Madrid’s experience, I would say they’re slight favourites.”

Liverpool FC were 1-0 winners against Real Madrid in the only previous meeting between these two clubs in the European Cup final in Paris in 1981.
